Welcome Mr. Snow-Goose Rare Canadian visitor to Ireland.

Rare Canada Snow Goose:
Driving along near the sea on the coast road, with the top up, what did I hear, honk, honk, what could that be,I stop the car pull in to a parking area.. Get out with my camera and very gingerly tip toe staying out of sight, making slow progress until behind a ditch, a roadside pond reveals a stunning reflection away in a green field. Golden Whin bushes are overlooking the water and being reflected in the stillness of the lake. I spy a white bird in the distance. Its a Swan, no, its too small to be a Swan. Its got to be a goose. Wow , my camera reveals a stunning bird as I zoom in to survey this prize.Quietly, and stealthily I point my Canon in the direction of the lake and start shooting my prize after setting to aperture priority and bracketing mode, very low I.S.O.because the sun is beaming down but luckily its late afternoon and its at my back.Yes Mr. Snow Goose you have made my day.

Easter a time of renewal.

Easter a time of renewal.

When Spring has sprung and Summer is somwhat closer, Easter in Ireland begins a new start for all flora and fauna alike. Our dawn chorus is a wonderful blessing when the birds are establishing new territory and the song-thrush,mistle thrush, and blackbird, perch on the topmost branches of tall trees, to declare I am here.Their voice is a warning to their competitors keep away because this is my patch.Their melodious song can be heard before dawn and at twylight, yet one of the smallest birds to be found has a much louder and more shrill song. The wren is know as the king of all birds, despite his tiny size and short cocked up tail he is more than a match for his larger cousins.Wild primroses can be seen beneath the hedgegrows and along the grassy edges of lanes as well as the elvusive scarlet pimpernell.Wild garlic with their dark green stems and sharp pointed leaves, star-like flowers can now be seen in drifts on the edges of woodland paths.New earths and fresh brown soil being disturbed and fresh droppings tell of evidence belonging to wild rabbits, foxes, and badgers give away their new lairs, sets and burrows.

Autumn changing colors in Ireland

Autumn is here. Beautiful changes occur in Ireland at this time of the year. Fall is the term used by our American neighbours. This describes Autumn in Ireland perfectly, as most of our non decidious trees are very scarce and we are left with skeletons on the horizon. I love this time because of the changing hues and colors all around our skies from day to day. One never knows what one can observe when we look to the sky. We are constantly reminded by non Irish visitors of our magnificent cloud formations not to mention our sunrises and sunsets. If you read my blog and feel like leaving a comment please do or leave your email address. Many thanks.
